| As a principal forum for the research, study, analysis and discussion of the strategic implications of major national and international issues, The Canadian Institute of Strategic Studies seeks to create a two-way information exchange with academic communities across Canada and the world. This exchanges provides the CISS with the ability to keep up-to-date on developments within academia, and is instrumental in providing the necessary body of information to make informed analysis. University students throughout Canada play a key role in the work of CISS, and through its student programs the CISS continues to promote their participation in the Institute's activities. Both the Volunteer Intern and the Strategic Liaison Officer programs generate a great deal of interest, while attracting a growing number of inquiries and applications for participation. The Institute now has student representatives in many universities across Canada and abroad. Additionally, the Department of Defence (DND) Internship Program has given numerous MA graduates a rewarding experience working as the CISS Research Officers.
