In 1988, the Canadian Institute of Strategic Studies began publishing a series of Strategic Datalinks. These are concise and insightful analytical papers that explore timely, policy-relevant international security issues, particularly those strategic issues that are of relevance to Canadian security. Previous Strategic Datalinks have looked at Canadian foreign and defence policy, China's military modernization, regional security in Asia and the Middle East, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

The CISS publishes approximately 12 Strategic Datalinks per year. Each runs 2500 to 3000 words and reflects the opinion of the author. These research papers are $3.00 each and free with membership.
